Fairfield County Giving Day is Thursday, March 9th

Shepherds is participating in Fairfield County’s Giving Day, a powerful 24-hour online fundraising competition that unites our community around local causes close to your heart. Last year, this amazing day of giving had extraordinary results: $1,246,964 donated by 11,000+ individuals for 410 nonprofits. Now in our 4th year, Giving Day is set to break records.

It’s your chance to support the local causes that are closest to your hearts – like Shepherds which supports Education in our at-risk communities. By providing financial support for a college preparatory education at a non-public high school, an adult Mentor, and teaching academic and life skills, Shepherds empowers young people to build a stronger foundation for future success.

Shepherds to Participate in Fairfield County Giving Day on March 10th, 2015

Starting at midnight on March 10th, 2015, join Shepherds and the rest of Fairfield County as we come together and celebrate the INCREDIBLE local non-profit organizations of Fairfield county who strengthen the place we all call home. This is a celebration of philanthropy and a great way to partner with Shepherds to help us change the life of a local inner-city teen in Bridgeport.

Here are three key ways in which you can help:

  • On March 10th, donate to our cause and post about it on social media with the hashtag #FairfieldCountyGives and #ShepherdsMentors, letting all of your friends know that you are partnering with Shepherds to help us empower an inner-city teen with a strong high school education and the pursuit of a college degree
  • Re-post our messages on social media and forward our e-mails to all of your friends to help us spread the word
  • Tell your family, friends and co-workers about this wonderful day of celebration and share with them your involvement in our cause

Shepherds Career Day at Pfizer

Shepherds hosted a career day for its students at Pfizer’s labs in Groton, CT on November 3rd, 2015. The day was filled with great career advice from two separate professional panels: a Science Professional panel made up of Veterinarians, Chemists, Statisticians and Biologists, as well as a Business Support pannel made up of Human Resource, Information Technology, Finance and Marketing professionals.

Shepherds students learned about the enormous amount of work that it takes to find an effective medicine to cure common ailments, as well as how Pfizer applies science and their global human resources to bring therapies to people that extend and significantly improve their lives.

The professionals in each pannel spoke to Shepherds’ youth about the importance of pursuing a career that you love, taking advantage of every mentoring opportunity available, working hard every day and setting attainable goals to work towards every day.
